The 2024 KATA Annual Convention & AGM successfully brought together over 300 industry professionals to discuss the theme “Make the Connection.” The event featured keynote speeches, panel discussions, and networking sessions, achieving its objectives of fostering collaboration and addressing industry challenges.

The 2024 Kenya Association of Travel Agents (KATA) Annual Convention & AGM was officially inaugurated at the Sarova Whitesands Beach Resort & Spa. Dr. Joseph Kithitu, Chairperson of KATA, and CEO Nicanor Sabula extended a warm welcome to all attendees. The event saw the presence of prominent figures including Chief Guest, Tourism Secretary Dr. Patrick Bucha, representing Tourism and Wildlife Cabinet Secretary Dr. Alfred Mutua and PS John Olootua. The event was attended by KATA board members, esteemed KATA members, airline CEOs, and distinguished guests.
Dr. Kithitu highlighted the substantial challenges facing the travel industry, such as economic uncertainties, fuel price fluctuations, climate change impacts, and global financial hurdles. However, he stressed that these challenges also provide opportunities for innovation, adaptation, and stronger connections that will drive the industry forward. The theme of this year’s convention, “Make the Connection,” served as a call to action, urging travel professionals to act as advisors and experts, facilitating meaningful travel experiences.
The event included keynote addresses by notable speakers such as Dr. Joseph Kithitu and Tourism Secretary Dr. Patrick Bucha, representing Tourism and Wildlife Cabinet Secretary Dr. Alfred Mutua, panel discussions on industry trends, and breakout sessions on innovative technologies.
